Custom domains

On Pro and Team, a status page can be served from your own domain, for example status.example.com. TLS certificates are issued and renewed automatically.

Set up

  1. In the status page settings, enter your domain, for example status.example.com.

  2. At your DNS provider, create a CNAME record:

    Type Name Target
    CNAME status custom.asniher.com
  3. Wait for the record to propagate. With a low TTL this usually takes minutes.

  4. Click Verify in Asniher.

After verification, the first visit to https://status.example.com triggers certificate issuance. This can take a few seconds once; after that the page loads normally. Renewal is automatic.

Your page remains available at https://<slug>.status.asniher.com as well.

Requirements and troubleshooting

  • Use a subdomain. Most DNS providers do not allow a CNAME on the root of a domain (example.com). Use status.example.com or similar.
  • Cloudflare users: set the record to DNS only (grey cloud). A proxied record hides the CNAME and prevents verification and certificate issuance.
  • Verify fails: check the record with dig +short CNAME status.example.com. It must return custom.asniher.com.. Remove any conflicting A, AAAA or CNAME record on the same name.
  • CAA records: if your domain has CAA records, they must allow the certificate authority Asniher uses. If you are unsure, contact support before adding CAA restrictions.
  • Plan: custom domains are available on Pro and Team only.

Removing a domain

Remove the domain in the status page settings, then delete the CNAME record at your DNS provider.
